JOB POSTING: DIGITAL MEDIA STRATEGIST

Free Speech For People, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization founded four years ago following the Supreme Court’s Citizens United v. FEC decision, leads a national campaign to challenge the misuse of corporate power and restore democracy to the people. We are accepting applications for a Digital Media Strategist to direct and manage our online communications. This position is full-time and the location is flexible. 

Our new Digital Media Strategist will work with us to create unique and thriving content, increase our following across platforms, manage and grow our email list, and identify digital partnership opportunities. 

Desired Skills/Experience 
  • 3-5 years of experience managing content and production for websites, with experience or
  • background in activism, politics, or organizing a plus 
  • Strong passion for Free Speech For People’s mission and work 
  • Fluent in social media marketing on facebook, twitter, pinterest, linkedin, google+, youtube, tumblr and other platforms.
  • Proven track record of creating engaging and successful social media campaigns
  • Knowledge of SEO/SEM 
  • Ability to compile and analyze analytics from
  • social media channels, email marketing campaigns, petitions and google analytics
  • Strong writing skills, experience and knowledge of overall communications tactics and strategies 
  • Experience with email marketing and petitions programs including Salsa 
  • Knowledge and experience of website management using WordPress and Drupal
  • Ability to work quickly and independently in a fast paced campaign environment, managing several projects at once.
  • Ability to identify and then act upon key opportunities in real time to ensure Free Speech For People’s voice is a part of social conversations 
  • Skills in video production, editing, and/or graphic design or HTML a plus  
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Website Management

  • Create, develop, and manage content for Free Speech For People’s website including blog posts, press updates, campaign highlights, current actions and other edits as needed using Drupal and WordPress
  • Work with web design partners on website maintenance
  • Monitor web traffic performance through analytics, deliver site statistics 
  • Ensure effectiveness of Google Ads grant by working with current offsite management partners
Social Media Management  & Content Production 
  • Develop and implement a social media content calendar that supports Free Speech For People’s communications goals and strengthens visibility
  • Monitor conversations on social media and manage responses 
  • Monitor daily news stories and developments in the money in politics movement, create posts and content to highlight key stories 
  • Maintain social media profiles, twitter, facebook, and pinterest on a daily basis
  • Identify opportunities for timely content to uplift Free Speech For People’s mission and voice
  • Create monthly thriving and effective facebook and twitter advertising campaigns with limited budgets 
Online Communications 
  • Identify online petition opportunities and develop partnerships with other organizations
  • Create petitions through Salsa platform based on timely events and organizational goals
  • Direct and identify all email communications 
  • Ensure growth of email list through new opportunities and tactics 
  • Work with allied groups on development of campaigns and movement strategies and goals
